Founded in 1978, Capital Tool & Design Limited has grown to become one of the premier producers of backing plates and accessories in the world. From our 3 production facilities and our dedicated distribution centre, Capital Tool & Design Limited is capable of meeting the demands of the ever changing marketplace with quality product, produced and delivered to customer specifications.

A Product Line That Speaks For Itself

Capital Tool & Design Limited produces the finest Riveted and Integrally Molded Disc Brake Backing Plates, Disc Brake Attaching Hardware, and Disc Brake Dampers (Shims) for almost every vehicle application in the global marketplace. We also maintain the largest product line offering in North America providing our customers with ‘One Stop Shopping' for all of their disc pad backing plate needs. With the recent addition of Tabco Auto Brake, CTD now has additional offering of new unlined steel brake shoes. Increasing coverage includes over 130 of the most popular applications.

Skilled and dedicated machine operators and tool die designers work interactively with engineering and quality control personnel through every facet of design, until the perfected finished product has been achieved. Technologically advanced electronic devices monitor one of the most modern stamping operations in the world. All these synergetic disciplines work in harmony to ensure that quality products and prompt deliveries are achieved.

Whether requirements are for aftermarket or OEM / OES, the in-house engineering facilities allow Capital Tool & Design Limited to maintain complete control over the die's concept, to respond quickly to design changes and to guarantee a quality product, from the first piece produced through to the last. At each stage of the design process, a team of engineers consult together and approve the drawing's composition. Sophisticated computer equipment such as CNC, jig grinding, and wire cutting; combined with the latest engineering software packages are all employed to ensure optimum results to produce a very precise part.
