In our ongoing effort to develop more dependable methods for attaching shims, CTD is please to introduce the Snap-Lock shim retention program.
The Snap-Lock shim program involves a change to our existing Sure-Lock program, the change being the introduction of small pin into the sure-Lock dimple on the backing plate. This small pin is centered in the dimple, with a small crown or mushroom on the top of the pin to prevent the shim from lifting off the backing plate once the shim is installed. The pin is an integral part of the backing plate, formed during the production stage of the plate. This pin can remain as is, when used with a Sure-Lock style of brake shim, or for the added security the pin can be ‘peened' down over the shim. Should you decide to not supply a shim with your particular program, the snap-lock plate is produced to remain below the surface of the backing plate so not to create any potential caliper interference.
